Herbal teas, for the most part, are very safe to drink. Those that enjoy herbal tea already are able to easily understand the benefits that this tea can provide to them. It may help you to relax. It may help you to feel sleepy so that you can ease into a good nights rest. Or, it may work as a stimulant, giving you the health benefits that you really need to have. In most cases, these teas are excellent for health reasons. Although no herbal tea product can claim to cure an illness, many believe that they can do much more than that. Yet, in some types of herbal teas, like most other foods, there are some risks that you’ll have to take.

Some of the herbal teas out there, or that you can make, may have you facing an allergic reactions to it. There are some that have toxic effects on the body as well. Understanding which teas these are and what could possibly happen is important for you to consider.

• Comfrey for example is one that can cause liver damage if you drink too much of it. That’s because it contains alkaloids that do this type of destruction.
• Pineapple weed is another option to consider. It is sometimes even sold as chamomile which is one tea that is very close to that of ragweed. Those that are allergic to ragweed can suffer highly serious reactions to pineapple weed or chamomile. This includes those that have a tendency of being a hay fever suffer. In severe cases, it can cause shock and death to those that are allergic to it.
• Lobelia is another option in herbal teas that you should consider. Lobelia can have toxins in it that can have the same effects as nicotine on the body.

If you do have allergies to any type of food or plant like elements, you should consider avoiding these types of herbal teas. The good news is that most people don’t have this problem and even if you do, there are plenty of other herbal tea products that you can enjoy that don’t provide these reactions. Take the time to consider what is in the herbal tea that you are purchasing before using it. It can help to insure you don’t fall victim to an allergic reaction!
