What do all personal development, self help, and motivational books have in common?
They all are written to help us get from where we are to where we want to go.
But the main thing they have in common is…
They suggest to us what WE have to change in order to be successful in that area. They DO NOT suggest how things outside of our control have to change but what thinking and actions that we have to change in order to make it happen.
The things that they would have us change are habits that have been with us for a long time. A habitual way that we think or act.
One of the main reasons that we may think that these books don’t help is because we do not address the core of the problem and that is habit control.
When we control our habits, we control our destiny and our lifelong success.
My mentor, Jim Rohn, says “For your life to change, YOU have to change.” and “Don’t wish for something to be easier, wish for you to be better.”
These things require habit control. When you have the ability to:
1. Identify a habit that is not serving you – some of the habits that have been holding you back have been with you since childhood. These are very subtle habits that you have to work on identifying.
2. Work on reasons why you have to change these non-serving habits
3. Replace them with a habit that serves you
