Some of you may be saying, “Come on, John. How can hope possibly hold you back?”
When you think of hope, what do you think of?
Do you think about the things that you “hope” to do?
Do you think of the things that you “hope” to change outside of yourself?
It all depends on what you are hoping for. If you are hoping that you can muster the courage to change the things you have control over, you are heading in the right direction.
If you are hoping for things to change that you have no control over, you giving up your personal power and I suggest that you are heading in the wrong direction.
There is no difference between hope directed in the wrong direction and fear, they both hold you back from taking the necessary action that you are required to take in order to make lasting and positive change in your life.
What are you afraid of?
For most fear comes into play when they think of what others will think of them when they step out to make a positive change in their lives.
You heard that right… fear only comes into play when you are held back because of what you think others will think of you if you step out and take positive bold action.
How many times have you heard?
“I heard that before.”
“Why do you try to do those things, you know it never works out for you.”
These statements often come from people that are close to us, well meaning family, friends and co-workers.
And we heed their advice and remain where we are.
The only way out of this habitual way of living is to step out boldly, working on what we truly desire and leaving the rest behind us. Not the people but the “old” thinking and action habits.
Believe me, anyone who truly wants the best for you will be there with you while you are moving forward towards your true desires. And not only that, but you will start to become an inspiration to them.
When you become serious about living your life successfully, they will start to take you for your word and look for ways to help you succeed on reaching your desire.
Since the beginning of June, I have made a personal commitment to change my fitness and eating habits. I did not make this decision lightly, you can read about it on the blog I started to track my fitness goals at http://www.burnthefatproof.com
Over my adult life, this is probably about the 6th or 7th time that I have ventured down this road. This is the last time for me.
It would have been easy for me to just “hope” that things would change and I was really nervous and fearful about how others would react when I started on this venture… AGAIN!
But I stepped out, and to this point I have lost 40 pounds and I feel awesome. I am up everyday early and to the gym before anyone else in the house gets up.
With the use of Lee Milteer’s Habit Busting System, I have uncovered some under lying thinking habits that have been holding me back for years, I am talking 36 years to be exact. And I found that thinking pattern right at about the time that I would have normally gone back to my old habits. And now I am even more motivated to continue and maintain the healthy lifestyle that I now desire more then anything.
If you are finding yourself challenged in the area of health and fitness, I suggest that you get Tom Venuto’s, great book, Burn The Fat, Feed the Muscle. It has helped with both my mindset and setting up a sensible diet and exercise program that has helped me lose the 40 pounds.
And if that was not enough, I have several household members who are starting their own fitness program because of my inspiration.
It is a great feeling!
I hope this helps you!
