Why High Gas Prices are a GOOD Thing…

If you live in the US, you are probably in sticker shock over the escalating prices at the gas pumps.

If you listen to the news or read the newspapers and you buy into the stories they are trying to feed you, you are probably mad at the Oil Company Executives and the record profits they are reporting.

How dare they make a profit on system they set up to deliver oil to our gas stations! Right…

Well… Here is some sound advise. Jim Rohn used to say to his mentor, “Things just cost too much.” And Earl Shoaff, Jim’s mentor would say back to him, “Things don’t cost too much, you simply can’t afford them.”

Look at the shift in focus, it went from the things outside of him and to his ability to produce enough to afford what he wanted. It was a brilliant retort.

Here are a number of reasons why I feel the higher gas prices are a good thing:

1. If you are like me, I hold stock in these companies and I know that the record profits are coming back to me in dividends in my 401K and retirement plan. I also know that this applies to millions of other Americans right now.

2. Any intelligent company will test price elasticity, meaning they will push prices as far as they can as long as a certain balance is maintained between supply, demand and profit. Why should the oil companies be any different? They are after all, a FOR profit company.

3. If you are an intelligent forward thinking person, it has made you look for other more creative ways to increase your income.

Have you looked into starting a home business to increase your income to help with the increase in prices that higher fuel cost produce. If not why not? Are you waiting for Barack Obama to get in the White House to make it all better? Take Control of Your Own Life and start to look for ways that YOU can get past this situation.

4. It has revealed to me, exactly where our next presidential candidates stand.

One is looking to change the habits of every American in the country.

While the other is trying to provide an incentive for someone to produce a system that will help us from our reliance on oil.

I was watching a debate on CNN last night from the talking heads of both the presidential candidates and I almost got ill. One of the candidates representatives was saying how every American was going to have to SACRIFICE, which I interpreted as saying “Every American will have to have some liberties stripped from them.” It gave me a very scary feeling.

When I see that candidate and his wife do their jobs for no pay and living in a two bedroom ranch without cable TV, then I will believe what he has the audacity to be telling us to do.

What happened to the days of “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.” I don’t know.

You need to be very careful about a person who claims that government regulations will make your life better.

Remember, your happiness is your responsibility.

As soon as you rely on outside circumstances to make your life better, your screwed.

When this happens you are giving up freedoms that are your God given right.

The Preamble to The US Declaration of Independence said, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

It doesn’t say “Life, Liberty, and Happiness.”, it says “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

When we are looking for things outside of our own ability to make a difference in others lives to make us happy, it is a recipe for disaster.

Those are the reasons why I think high gas prices are a good thing, what do you think?

    In my opinion I think high gas prices are a good thing because they get you tacos. Yep. Tacos. TWO FREE TACOS DAY!!!! It’s tomorrow and wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for these high gas prices. Thanks Jack In The Box. For anyone wanting TWO FREE TACOS, all you have to do is present any gas receipt and receive TWO FREE TACOS. That’s it. TWO FREE TACOS DAY is gonna rule tomorrow!!!!

  1. Interesting, but when price fixing is going on that is illegal. In Quebec, Canada some gas stations were caught gas price fixing, convicted and fined. I am all for free enterprise not fleece enterprise.
