Liquid Vitamins for Heart Health
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the
United States, claiming more than one million lives in this country
every year. Causes of heart disease include poor diet, insufficient
exercise, obesity, and high cholesterol. The effects of these risk
factors are exacerbated by malnutrition caused by insufficient intake of
vitamins, minerals and other nutrients which are essential for heart
health.
Regular cardiovascular exercise, and a balanced diet high in lean
protein and fresh fruits and vegetables, and low in saturated fat, will
help protect you against heart disease, but it is just as important to
make sure that your body receives all the essential nutrients it needs
every day for good heart health.
The most important indicator of cardiovascular disease is cholesterol
levels, as the level of cholesterol in the body is an indicator of the
amount of fatty build-up that is present on blood vessel walls. High
cholesterol is commonly a result of a diet that is too high in saturated
fats, however inadequate intake of several key vitamins and minerals may
also be an important factor. The most important of these is Vitamin E,
an anti-oxidant which helps protect the body from damage caused by free
radicals. Free radicals are molecules which damage blood vessels and
increase the rate at which fats build up on blood vessel walls. Regular
and adequate intake of the anti-oxidant vitamins, including Vitamin E,
Vitamin C, and the B-group vitamins, helps prevent free radical damage
and heart disease.
How can liquid vitamins help? Liquid vitamins are a relatively new way
of taking vitamin supplements that provides all the essential nutrients
the body needs in a convenient daily liquid dose that many experts
believe has higher bioavailability than the vitamins found in both pills
and in food. Bioavailability is a term that describes how much of a
particular nutrient is available for the body to absorb and use – in
terms of vitamin supplements, this means that the nutrients present in
liquid vitamins are more easily absorbed and used by the body. Taking
liquid vitamins rather than vitamins in pill or capsule form means that
your body has a more consistent, usable supply of essential nutrients,
including the anti-oxidant vitamins that help protect you from heart
disease. |
